Most Americans Believe the Media has a Liberal Bias
BY: NCViking
This idea of liberal bias in the media is nothing new. Up until the last decade or so, it has only been seriously considered by Conservatives and Republicans, but the polls show that this may be changing.
According to a Rasmussen poll, 51% of voters say the average reporter is more liberal, 18% more conservative, and 20% think their views are about the same. An astounding 68% of Republicans and an almost equal 62% of unaffiliated voters say media bias is a bigger problem in politics than big campaign contributions. 68% of voters said most reporters are not just biased, but actually try to help the candidate they want win. And it gets worse. According to The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, public views on the media’s accuracy in news is at a two-decade low.
It seems the public feels American media is moving closer to liberal propaganda than reporting the actual news. Liberal media bias gives a tremendous advantage to the Democratic Party and a majority of the public believes news is increasingly being ‘liberal-filtered’, or at the very least presented through ‘blue-colored’ glasses.
Is it any wonder why Americans are moving in droves to the Web to get their news? If it’s going to get filtered by a bias, it might as well be one they freely choose.
