Obama – The Photo-Op President

By WC Windbag
This is too tragic to confirm. If it is true, then any and all criticism of Bush’s carrier landing photo-op has been surpassed. From Jammie Wearing Fool:
Priorities, folks, they have their priorities. So there’s nothing to claim as a diplomatic success of any kind. Barack Obama got what he came for during his China visit.
——————————————-
Dressed in a winter jacket against a biting wind at the Great Wall, Obama led a knot of people for a half-hour jaunt up the crenelated wall toward a watchtower, a restored section originally built 500 years ago.
Obama walked down the last ramp by himself in a choreographed moment for photographers. White House aides were exultant afterward that “the shot” they had planned turned out perfectly.
——————————————-
They were exultant!
Nothing else really matters, does it, other than that staged photo op? Pretty much symbolizes his entire presidency so far.
Politics. I guess this is better than sending Air Force One and a military fighter over New York City. And they called Bush out of touch. I have to hand it to Obama… when the polls drop and accomplishments are non-existant, he sure knows where to spend his time.

- saving GM and all of those jobs with a loan?
- saving states from going bankrupt or having to raise taxes?
- extending jobless benefits
- trying to reform health care
- reevaluating the strategy in in Afghanistan
- working with Pakistan to uproot the Taliban in the tribal areas
- working on legislation to add new controls on Wall Street trading.
You guys, and conservatives, lose a great deal of credibility with these cut/paste posts. On the one hand you charge that he is moving America to socialism; on the other “accomplishments are non-existant .”
Which is it?
To paraphrase the great Thomas Sowell thoughts, some individuals obsession of having to “do something” and equate it with accomplishment is wrongheaded on its face.
You say tomato…
I see the GM “loan” as disruption of the free market. GM should have been allowed to fail. Instead, GM has been propped up with its failing business model. Hardly an accomplishment in my book.
And how exactly has that been done? Borrowing from tomorrow. California is still heading towards to cliff. So are many other states. They did not reform. It is as if Obama gave money to a drunk and told him to get a sandwich.
Hardly a stellar accomplishment. Good for the people receiving, although better fiscal policies might have been better in stimulating growth. Obama invested in job killing policies instead of job creating ones.
Trying is not an accomplishment.
Dithering is not a strategy.
I am glad that he is continuing the Bush policy of engagement with Pakistan. Also, I am happy to see evolution on tactics.
“Working on” is not an accomplishment.
Not all posts are original content or detailed analysis. You lose credibility every time you complain about that. It is not the intention of this blog to be Michelle Malkin, Hot Air, or any other full time reporting site.
I also do not see where moving us towards socialism moves in parallel with accomplishments.
