Goodbye Governor Blagojevich

In a vote of 59-0, the Senate of the State of Illinois voted to convict Governor Rod R. Blagojevich on the articles of impeachment.
As of 4:52 PM CST, Blagojevich is no longer Governor of Illinois. Immediately following, the Senate voted again 59-0 to bar him from ever holding public office within the State of Illinois.
Media blitz aside, and his last minute and desperate plea notwithstanding, the now former Governor could not convince anyone.
Good riddance.
We are now awaiting the swearing in of Lt. Governor Pat Quinn. I assume that the Democrats may use the next two years to rehabilitate their party in the state. Anyway, it is too bad that the state GOP is in such disarray.
But this is our chance. Trunks up!
