Olbermann Terrified at Washington Health Care Protest

As always, Keith Olbermann is always a great resource for goofy quotes and interesting ideas.  The video below does not disappoint.

This seems to really reinforce the idea that the only people really concerned with race are those on the left.  Everyone was invited to attend this particular rally.  The most important item to Mr. Olbermann and those in his camp seems to be appearance of the protesters instead of substance.  Why does this really matter?

This particular protest and the mobilization for average Americans to make “house calls” on their elected Representatives was initiated by Michelle Bachmann (R) from Minnesota.  Is this really a problem for our Republic?  Gasp, average citizens (you know, tax payers) visiting with their elected officials.  Is that still allowed?

I believe Rep. Bachmann does a good job at explaining things on this video clip from BigGovernment.com.

I doubt the “house calls” will make any difference on how the congress will vote, but what can it hurt?  I’m just disappointed I was unable to represent TGI at this event.  Looked like fun.  Maybe next time.

Over and Out.

They should have invited Rush Limbaugh. He always draws a multi-ethnic crowd doesn’t he?

  • The Arch City Madman (author) said:

Yup, Rush would have been a great addition. They might have attracted twice the people.

Who cares if a multi-ethnic crowd is in attendance? As far as I can see it is more about ideas than ethnicity. Oh, I forgot, that’s the most important thing in your book right? Sorry about that, I tend to forget sometimes.

I for one favor any reasonable attempt by conservatives to continuously isolate themselves. I urge them to use divisive language. Rush has been a great example and one of the reasons I so highly recommended him.

Just one last thought: it’s about ideas, not people. So go for it!

How are they isolating themselves? Just because there are more white faces in the crowd than any others, how does that matter in the least? This particular event was open to anyone who wanted to attend. Just because they decided not to attend means nothing, except for you.

Just one last thought: it’s about ideas, not people.

Wha??? Seems to me you were the one that brought up “multi-ethnic.” Yes it is about ideas, glad to have you on board.

Arch, perhaps you meant “except to you” instead of “except for you.” Just a thought.

The just about ideas, not people was meant to mock your point of view, which you expressed as “As far as I can see it is more about ideas than ethnicity.” Mock. Look it up.

My entire post about Rush was meant as mocking the problem conservatives have had, historically as well as most recently, with being inclusive.

On a thoroughly serious note, I really meant that conservatives are isolating themselves. If you can’t figure it out, I won’t bother to explain it. We’ll just get into a debate whether you are or are not. It is better to just let you have the last word about how great the Republicans and conservatives are and let the debate end.

Mike, it is always a joy to read your comments. One never knows where they will lead. Quite enjoyable, I think.

Seriously, are you really that picky or is that your attempt at humor? Oh, you were mocking.

The just about ideas, not people was meant to mock your point of view, which you expressed as “As far as I can see it is more about ideas than ethnicity.”

Yeah, I got the sarcasm, albeit slim on your part. You tend to weave “humor” or “sarcasm” into real points with very little division. Hard to tell sometimes what you really want answered. I think Windbag addressed this phenomenon – email killed the message or something like that.

The point was you brought up some weird multi-ethnic angle and Rush Limbaugh. You have a real fetish with Limbaugh.

    Mock. Look it up.

    OK.

It’s all so much clearer now. Thanks!

My entire post about Rush was meant as mocking the problem conservatives have had, historically as well as most recently, with being inclusive.

Great. Other than you mentioning it and me ribbing you, oh sorry, mocking you, you brought it up. The point of your initial comment had to do with, how was it worded, oh yeah, “He (Rush) always draws a multi-ethnic crowd doesn’t he?” Again, you brought up that angle (you and Keith Olbermann.)

As far as being inclusive to specific groups, conservatism is not a white thing, it’s an ideal and a way of thinking. The truth is that Conservatives and Republicans should do what they can to attract all people to their side of the aisle, but not for appearance sake.

On a thoroughly serious note, I really meant that conservatives are isolating themselves. If you can’t figure it out, I won’t bother to explain it. We’ll just get into a debate whether you are or are not. It is better to just let you have the last word about how great the Republicans and conservatives are and let the debate end.

Yup, I’m just a dumb redneck from flyover country. I’m no how near as smart as you!

“Mocking” aside, I believe your premise is wrong. Not all conservatives and Republicans are great nor are the conservative ideals isolated to just those on the right. A good portion of the country is conservative with many issues. The California Prop 8 initiative is a great example – that would have passed in a normal election year (maybe) but a heavy African American turnout, who are conservative in many ways, voted to preserve traditional values. They also voted 90% for Obama for obvious reasons. Are these people liberal or just identified as democrats? I would say the later. A generation of specific ethnic groups have been conditioned to vote for a specific party. It is very tough, if not downright impossible, to overcome that kind of history with the right “appearance.”

I’ll end with a great part of Monty Python’s Holy Grail.
