The “Shout” Heard ‘Round the World

How dare he!

The reaction by the left to Joe Wilson’s shout of “You Lie!” regarding illegal aliens getting something from Obamacare is quite telling. Show after show after liberal show is exploding with anger and condemnation of the congressman’s lack of control. Wilson issued an immediate apology not only with the public but directly to the White House and Obama – repeatedly. Not enough! He must be drawn and quartered, then vanquished from His kingdom!

Here is Olby actually lecturing Joe Wilson on civility in a long Bush-bashing diatribe …

And the ladies on The View describe Republicans in general as absolutely disgraceful …

“The Office of The President demands respect!” They all decry. Right. Note to Whoopi Goldberg: Dems heckled Bush too, quite a bit. Harry Reid even called him a “loser”. Civil and respectful, indeed!

Here’s a video of Dem etiquette during a Bush speech:

I guess those in glass houses shouldn’t throw shoes.

And what of the claim that Obama was lying about coverage for illegal aliens? Despite the speech being riddled with misstatements, he did not technically lie on this issue. “Technically” speaking

From Politico.com:

Obama’s claim that illegal immigrants won’t be covered — which sparked Wilson’s outburst — while technically accurate, doesn’t quite tell the entire story. Some of the bills being considered in the House and Senate contain provisions locking in local statutes that prevent providers from inquiring about immigration status prior to treatment. And illegals are treated, and are bound to be treated, in ERs, covered by local, state and federal uninsured pools.

I am not condoning Wilson’s outburst, it was inappropriate, but the fallout from his lack of judgment has been completely overblown by the mainstream media. Lack of decorum and vitriol is only acceptable when it is aimed at Conservatives or Republicans. When the left gets a taste of it in return, such actions suddenly become distasteful, but when it is aimed at their “Savior”, it is outright blasphemy!

Seems like I remember some type of outburst from Democrats during a Bush speech around the 2005 time frame. I don’t remember any public outcry then, but maybe my memory is fuzzy.

Viking you are correct, this outbust was really not the type of thing that should be done regardless of what the other side does, but he’s really not that wrong about his objection. We’ll see what happends if these ideas actually get to the floor.

Let’s not forget that this inappropriate remark was made shortly after the President stated “the best example is the claim made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but by prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens.”

No one has ever said this. “Death Panels” in the context of how they are explained are described as government bureaucrats sitting on a panel making decisions about rationing care. Mr. Obama’s characterization was a fabrication at worst and a distortion at best.

Following the “kill” statement was the misleading “There are also those who claim that our reform efforts would insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false. The reforms — the reforms I’m proposing would not apply to those who are here illegally.” Since there was no mechanism to safeguard against illegals getting coverage at the time of the speech, this is quite frankly another distortion.

This is the time when Rep. Wilson shouted his inappropriate remark. Wilson should have shown respect for the office of the President, even if Dems did not in 2005, but the fact that he yelled out a response in kind is being ignored.

“The office of the president deserves respect” (The View) This is b******t. Quite frankly, He has not adequately proven his eligibility for president in the least. Today, we had the case of a doctor in the military who’s case against him may or may not be heard, under the threat of AWOL. We have Hank Johnson making comments about white sheets roving the country side; Harry Reid, Pete Stark, Cap and Trade, Al Gore’s “He betrayed this country! He played on our fears!”, Single payer, Acorn prostitution, Charlie Gibson knowing s**t about Acorn, the list is endless. And we, the American people, in the “Information Age”, are supposed to shut out our lights, turn off our computers, buy hybrid cars and watch as manufacturing jobs are becoming a thing of past economies. the housing market, the Dow Jones, all temporary as another bubble is about to burst in Housing, 18-24 months away as we watch China and Cuba drink oil off our shore and couldn’t care if Alaska or California sells their’s off. Iran and Korea are allowed to build Nuclear facilities while we haven’t built one in 30 years. The world is screaming Privatized Health Care while the US moves towards Nationalized. Czar’s after Czar is tied to infamy whether it be a speech or a book relating to the treating of human beings. It’s crazy! Oh! and yeah…Jimmy Carter, probably the most ineffectual president in 50 years wants to say something. Shut up!

Thanks for reading and posting Barry. I can understand the frustration you are feeling, but it is my belief that the Office of the President of the United States does deserve respect. Nothing made conservatives more ticked off when critics of President Bush or Reagan used to belittle the men. We can have disagreements, even spirited ones. Wilson’s behavior might have been acceptable in many places, but it is not in the House. He realized this as well, but can not bring himself to end the matter by just appologizing to the House.

As an analogy, if you are a regular visitor at my house, and you insult another one of my other guests, you not only owe my guest an apology, but also me. If you apologize to me, you are not a wimp, you are just being polite.

All that said, most of the items on your laundry lists of things going we agree on. I will call out one exception: Obama’s birth. There is plenty of credible evidence about Obama’s birth in Hawaii. People who spend time trying to state otherwise are actually coming across as crazy as Truthers. Obama has plenty wrong with him, so trying to hit his alleged Achillies Heel with this arrow is not just counter productive, its a waste of time.
