Long Live Mexico?
By The Arch City Madman
There has been a lot of talk about organized efforts on the right hijacking the Health Care Town Hall meetings held over the Congressional recess. There is evidence of some kind of organization effort on the conservative side to pull information together but it’s hardly a vast right wing conspiracy. Average citizens are making their thoughts known – good and bad (depends solely on your perspective.) Democracy in action.
Very little has been made of the organized effort from the left to disrupt these meetings. Some of the instances have been highlighted on this blog and other conservative leaning websites, but not a lot of national attention that the subject should have warranted.
What’s the difference between the organized efforts of the left and the right? The type of people that attend the event. One such example occurred last week at a Town Hall event from Rep. Gene Green (D) of Texas.
If you watched the video you can see the confrontation that ensued between the La Raza members and the other individuals present outside the meeting. La Raza bills itself as a representative in Washington for Latino people. What prompted these individuals to show up at a Health Care Town Hall meeting in Houston, TX? Illegal Immigration and the providing of these benefits to those non-citizens.
From the Gateway Pundit – from the video:
A member of the group La Raza argues with and attacks one of the attendees of Gene Green’s Townhall meeting on Tuesday, August 18. He became violent and Houston Police took him to jail. The LaRaza members continued to confront us over the course of the night… we remained calm and stayed away but they kept it up! The night ended with a Mariachi band… we couldn’t believe it!! This is what’s going on in Texas, folks… and it could happen to America!! They admit they’re “taking over America” and that they want to “kick us out”…. Is this really what you want?????
Missouri had Union thugs at a Russ Carnahanevent, I guess it’s only fitting for La Raza thugs wielding Mexican flags and a Mariachi band is the norm in Texas. Here’s my thought for these individuals that opine for open borders: If you like Mexico, feel free to cross the southern border and take up residence there. If you like the freedoms and the opportunities afforded citizens in America, wave the stars and stripes proudly instead of the Mexican flag. Just a crazy thought.
BTW: Using the “N-word” on an old white dude really shows your ignorance. Not only for recognizing the racist use of the term but also the fact that you were talking to white guys. Real class operation.

How can a group that calls itself “The Race” have any credibility in the press?
Yep, nice choice of words by the gentlemen in the video. You said it – classy operation.
In Spanish “La Raza” essentially means “The People”, not the race.
The term “La Raza” has been in continuous use since at least the early 1900’s. A famous film in Spain refers to Spaniards as “La Raza” establishing the term as people of Spanish origin. The term may predate that to distinguish Spaniards from others in the peninsula.
I wasn’t going to comment on this blog but a couple of items bother me about the video:
- why is the guy with the flag holding a video camera. He clearly planned for “something” to happen.
- why is the woman asking such ridiculous Rothchild, Rockefeller questions? Sounds nutty to me.
- The premise is some sort of “La Raza” (as in the advocay group) confrontation, maybe even invasion. The film shows a teenager responding to an adult.
- Why is this video anti-Mexican? As far as the film can tell, all of the individuals are either US Citizens or legal residents.
- Mariachi bands are heard throughout the South-West where Mexicans gather. Why is the purpose of “The night ended with a Mariachi band… we couldn’t believe it!!”
There is nothing un-American about people celebrating with the music they grew up with. If it is, why isn’t anyone complaining about “O sole mio,” or River Dance?
I am highly surprised that any of you would even post this entry on the blog as it clear shows nothing ominous.
If I were attending a function I would definitely bring a camera and film everything. We would have never seen the beating (of an African American by SEIU members) in St. Louis without an eyewitness rolling tape. This is pure biased speculation on your part that the individual knew “something” was going to happen.
Agreed.
Did you watch the whole video? One of the stars stated “We’re the majority and you’re the minority” while carrying a Mexican flag. I don’t think it’s anti-Mexican – pro-Mexican maybe.
There is an invasion of illegals already, no need to create a new one. It is my opinion, as stated in the post, that the interest of La Raza is to provide health care to additional illegals.
That is true; they are part of the whole southwest experience. This was part of the quote from The Gateway Pundit. I thought it was appropriate to post the quote from an eye witness in its entirety.
The whole post was meant to ask questions – why were these “kids” at a town hall event instigating violence and waving Mexican flags. The time during the congressional recess has showed “violence” and dissenters where the insinuations are that they are from the right side of the aisle or part of some organized conspiracy. Much of the real violence has been perpetrated by democrats and their friends not the average citizens.
The question is why this individual is holding a camera. I can see why hundreds of people might have cameras. He happens to be holding a flag, a bullhorn and a video camera.
That makes it more subject to question.
There is ample evidence on this film that the Latinos on this film are US Citizens. As with most Latinos in the SW, they are second or third generation Americans; born in US soil, citizens just like you and I. I seriously doubt that any of the Latinos on this film are illegals (yes, I can tell you why).
Yet the post, and your own comments speak about the illegal invasion and how illegals want free health care. (as a side note, that’s handled in the bill and we can discuss it).
I don’t take a lot of stock in teenagers running around saying whatever. They may feel like they are taking over, but there is no visible correlation between this kid and the “La Raza” movement.
Nor is this kid trying to provide free health care to illegals. I see a citizen asking about it at a town hall, then I see a kid and his sister (or something), then I see the kid in some back and forth confrontation with the megaphone citizen.
(at 2:34) The kid seems very unorganized, very amateurish. He was very un-confrontational. He wanted to say something mean but he turned his head as he said it. It’s hardly audible. He’s definitely not been trained.
(at 3:15) The man then challenges the kid. A 40-ish man taunting the kid. He took out his camera, he was trying to get a reaction.
(at 4:15) the kid gets mad at being taunted. He gets arrested. Not the man with the flag. The kid! This is a lesson, one the man with the flag won’t like in the future. This kid will make sure he votes in the future.
(at 5:01) the kid’s relative, maybe the father, expresses why he taught the kid was arrested. He says, “that’s what it is… we are in the majority now. We are taking over.”
(at 5:13) the man with the flag says “taking over what, taking over America, right.” It places a caption that says they admit to taking over America. There is another voice, unidentifiable, but clearly not the Latino’s voice that says “taking over… America.” But you cannot tell whose voice.
The Latino father never said they are taking over America. The entire premise is ridiculous. Legal Latinos are already a majority in many locations in the SW, although not yet a majority in any of the SW states.
To “take over” they would have to be legal, vote, and hold office.
This video is an example of white-fear and taunting.
So, what we have: a kid, an adult taunting, two flags, and a confrontation. Not a single illegal alien as claimed. Not a single La Raza member identified. A lot of presuming by the poster.
And let’s not forget the scary mariachi nights.
