Hey Crazy Obama Birthers: Let It Go UPDATE: Ah, Who Really Cares?

It’s a shame that it’s really coming to this. Really.

The measure Abercrombie will introduce commemorates the 50th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood. But here’s the rub, his spokesman tells me: It describes Hawaii as Barack Obama’s birthplace.

“In the language of the resolution, there is a statement that Hawaii is the birthplace of the 44th President of the United States,” Abercrombie spokesman Dave Helfert confirms.

That confronts House GOPers with a choice: They can vote for the measure, and endorse the idea that Obama was born in Hawaii, which could earn the wrath of birthers. Or they can vote against commemorating the 50th state’s joining of our blessed Union. Or GOPers can skip the vote, but that could look nutty.

“Far be it from us to try to stir things up,” Helfert said puckishly.

So Congress is going to take time out of its busy schedule to take a vote on a bill that states Obama was born in Hawaii. Is this really a good use of their time? Oh heck, why am I complaining… they could be doing far worse damage, I guess.

But to clarify, it is not the “GOP” that is pushing this Obama-was-born-in-wherever crap. It is the lunitic fringe standing on the edge… the same nutjobs, I should point out, that talk about fake moon landings, magic bullets, and lying us into war. Mainstream conservatives find this whole thing rather silly, as many of them have investigated and found no credible evidence to support the theory that Obama was born anywhere else but Hawaii. I mean, come on… even the provocative Ann Coulter finds these Birthers wacky.

Any piece of evidence presented or not is further proof that Obama has been planning this deception since his birth. I have to say I agree with Robert Gibbs on this one completely.

The funny thing is that even 35% of Democrats think that Obama was not born in the US, but that is not the story the MSM carries, is it?

The fact is, I have never really had time to buy into crazy conspiracy theories. They are usually highly implausible, with a simple, more logical explanation available and easy to understand. For example, Vince Foster committed suicide. That makes sense, and evidence points to that explanation, but that will never stop the nutters from thinking that Hillary had Foster killed. You will never get those people off the ledge.

UPDATE: Hot Air makes a good point about this. Why is it that liberal media keeps stoking the flames of this controversy, while Fox keeps debunking it? One would think that Obama supporters like having their guy chased around by nutjobs.

By the way, I mentioned Vince Foster, the moon landing, and the Iraq War “lies” as some of the ingredients for nutter soup. Another like fixin’, all you 9/11 Truthers. All of you need to team up and go find Elvis in that Michigan Piggly Wiggly and find out if he has been writing songs all these years. I love that Jail House Rock!

If obama was born in Hawaii, why don’t we know in which hospital he was born and who was the attendind physician. These are not on the COLB that is posted on line.
A nice raised seal would be nice too.

This is really a waste of time. For the sake of argument, let’s just pretend that he was born in Kenya. Then what? He was born to an American mother and spent most of his life (including his infancy) in the US. Did his parents rush back to the US to put two birth announcements in Hawaiian newspapers just in case he might run for President someday? What difference does it make?

Guess what… if you win, Slow Joe Biden becomes President. Who does that help?

He is an American, as much as he is wrong… very wrong… almost wrong all the time. We need not try to spear his heel, as he is not Achilles. Let’s go after him on policy. That is where he can be defeated.

Art, the question is unexplainable to those bent on not believing Obama is a citizen. Republican Governor Lingle has vouched for the authenticity. The Certificate of Live Birth is an official record of the State of Hawaii, and perfectly legitimate.

Debra J. Saunders sums this up well, so I will leave it to her.

Facts don’t matter to these geniuses. They don’t care that numerous major news organizations, the nonpartisan Factcheck.org and Hawaii’s GOP Gov. Linda Lingle have vouched for the authenticity of Obama’s birth certificate. Or that the Honolulu Advertiser ran a birth announcement in August 1961.

No, they go for the theory that Obama’s white mother, Stanley Dunham Obama, chose to give birth, not in Oahu with her parents nearby, but in a hospital in a Third World country. Then she was so clever that she ran a birth announcement in the local paper in case someday her son with the politically catchy name of Barack Hussein Obama II ran for president.

Why didn’t Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign make an issue of Obama’s non-citizenship during the Democratic primary if his legitimacy was so assailable? Apparently the Clinton brainiacs aren’t as smart as the “birthers.”

News stories suggest that the “birther” movement is growing stronger. Maybe the “birthers” have just gotten louder. These days, all it takes is one nut on youtube.com to rate a week’s worth of TV panel discussions.

The Constitution Says Obama Can’t Be President. And Neither Could Reagan.

    The clause says
“No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Originalist blather in the Huff post link is so far off its laughable, but amusing link nonetheless.

Without a doubt, comma placement can make the sentence appear to have different meanings. Good thing we have the Federalist Papers to back up any questions. Thank you Madison and Hamilton!
