Conservative Mark Levin Blasts Newt Gingrich as a “Phony” and “Has-Been”

As a Conservative, you have to love Mark Levin. He holds back no punches, even when criticizing Republican heavyweights like Newt Gingrich and Colin Powell. He characterized them in a recent radio segment as ‘pseudo-conservatives’, ‘phony Republican leaders’, ‘has-been Republicans’ and ‘has-been conservatives’. He did this in response to a Newt Gingrich suggestion to “shrug off” vocal Conservatives in the Republican party, such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Sara Palin and others.
His best point: (Conservatives) are not seeking ideological purity. Conservatism is a big tent. Conservatives don’t agree on everything, but there are certain core principles that hold us all together: capitalism is better than socialism, the civil society is better than statism, individualism is better than groupism, transcendent moral order is better than decrepit culture, the rule of law is better than anarchy, the Constitution is superior to any other governing document, and our rights are unalienable and are not created by men who give them and take them away.
I think this foundation is what he had in mind when he previously suggested a Conservative takeover of the Republican Party. A return to Conservative Principles.
From Real Clear Politics:
Mark Levin criticized former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich as a “pseudo-conservative.” This was part of a nearly half-an-hour rant on the nationally syndicated “Mark Levin Show.”
Colin Powell did not escape criticism from Levin, either. Levin castigated him for voting for Obama. “Powell not only voted for him,” Levin said, “he announced it on a liberal news outlet.” In doing so, “he held off until the last minute to do the maximum damage he could,” said Levin. “It was an utter lack of disloyalty and dishonor,” Levin added.
Levin went on to criticize Gingrich for supporting Colin Powell and told the former speaker he does not know the same Ronald Reagan that he does. Levin accused Gingrich of having too much personal “baggage” and being “undisciplined” when he makes public comments.
