Obama Asks 31-Year-Old Campaigner to Reshape American Auto Industry

BY: NCViking
What the hell, we elected a community organizer to run the free world, why not a baby-faced campaigner right out of law school to reshape the future of America’s auto industry?
From The New York Times:
The 31-Year-Old in Charge of Dismantling G.M.
It is not every 31-year-old who, in a first government job, finds himself dismantling General Motors and rewriting the rules of American capitalism.
But that, in short, is the job description for Brian Deese, a not-quite graduate of Yale Law School who had never set foot in an automotive assembly plant until he took on his nearly unseen role in remaking the American automotive industry.
Nor, for that matter, had he given much thought to what ailed an industry that had been in decline ever since he was born. A bit laconic and looking every bit the just-out-of-graduate-school student adjusting to life in the West Wing — “he’s got this beard that appears and disappears,” says Steven Rattner, one of the leaders of President Obama’s automotive task force — Mr. Deese was thrown into the auto industry’s maelstrom as soon the election-night parties ended.
“There was a time between Nov. 4 and mid-February when I was the only full-time member of the auto task force,” Mr. Deese, a special assistant to the president for economic policy, acknowledged recently as he hurried between his desk at the White House and the Treasury building next door. “It was a little scary.”
A little scary indeed! The man has never run a business, never had to make a payroll, has zero experience in the auto industry … but hey, he’s a loyal Obamaton, what else matters?
Somewhere in China, students are laughing …
Here’s a look at the man with the American Auto Industry in his hands:

Good grief… why would you be nervous at all? This seems quite reasonable to me. Have you not heard of Joan of Arc? She was but a wee teen when she led the forces of France. How about Bill Clinton and Bobby Jindal, ages 32 and 36 when elected governors of their states. There are lots of examples of the young leading… you must hate kids… just hate them.
Experience is overrated. Necessary background in a subject matter means you are an industry hack.
Mrrrph…
Kind of sounds like all the great work experiences his new boss has on his resume.
Maybe that’s the key – do very little (except for going to school) and then going to work for the government. Man, I should have become a community organizer!
