Michael Savage Banned from UK Radio for Extremist Views; UPDATE: Savage Responds

Here is a great example of why many of us want to protect our American way as opposed to morphing into some elitist European model.

From Breitbart:

Brits need elites to tell commoners what is good for moral and political consumption and what is not – in the name of privilege, of course.

“This is someone (Michael Savage) who has fallen into the category of fomenting hatred, of such extreme views and expressing them in such a way that it is actually likely to cause inter-community tension or even violence if that person were allowed into the country.”

Savage may not be everyone’s cup of Earl Grey, but causing people to commit violence? Bullocks! Can’t have any public discourse now, can we chaps?

UPDATE

Michael Savage responds to his ban in Britain by asking listeners to ban travel to the country and ban purchase of English goods.

“Well, I don’t know who this pork eater is, but I have a question for her. I hear she is the Home Secretary of the former England. When has this witch heard my show, since it’s not syndicated in England? When has this witch listened to my program in England? And which show or shows is she referring to?”

I am in total agreement that the ban is not a good thing, but Michael Savage is a madman and poster child for why moderates have fallen away from the GOP. IMHO, he is insane. I would much prefer 560 WIND carry Hugh Hewitt, who is on at the same time as Savage.

I don’t agree with Savage being banned.

However, Savage is no friend of free speech. Despite Savage painting himself as a champion of free speech, he is anything but. He took the organisation CAIR to court to prevent them from using snippets of his show on their website. He lost. However, had Savage prevailed, free speech would have lessened for us all. See:

I do get to listen to Savage occasionally – it plays from 8-11 here in St. Louis so I can catch it before I go to bed. He always has some good points about most issues but I agree Windbag, he’s part of the problem and not the solution.

That being said, I can simply turn off the radio when I’m done listening. How’s that for taking care of the problem? Hey UK

I think that this is a primer for what could and might happen here in the US with the “Fairness Doctrine” if it is reinstated. There is a reason why no one listens to Liberal radio – it sucks.

Get ready America – censorship is on it’s way across the pond! I say boycott the UK much like we did with France several years ago. (Does the UK actually produce anything?)

By the way, don’t the Brits have Closed Captioning?
