How About Tea for 500,000!
By The Arch City Madman
As the ‘Arch City’ Madman, I had to make sure to attend the Tax Day Tea Party held in St. Louis. What a great event filled with a reported 10,000 people that jammed Kiener Plaza (downtown St. Louis landmark) – and I mean jammed. Although there were so many people in one place, there were no fights, no bad behavior, no overturned cars or looting – just a whole host of pissed off people peaceably protesting the overspending in Washington by the President and Congress (The national estimate has been over 500,000 nationwide). Nice to be around people who are respectful and nice – wonder if the liberal protesters are that well behaved?
Here’s a great quote from Illinois Representative Jan Schakowsky from one of our local TV stations in St. Louis, KMOV:
She calls the “Tea Parties” nothing but a right wing plan fueled by the Fox News Channel to mislead the public about the Obama economic plan. The Democrat called the protests despicable and shameful.
Really Ms. Schakowsky? When are you guys going to really understand that this is a grassroots effort organized and attended by normal citizens (those people who vote, remember?). The fact that Fox News has decided to cover these events should not be unusual since protests garner coverage from all over the world on every news outlet. Would you think that protesters at the G20 or code pink or anti-war “despicable and shameful”? Just one question: are all Congress people this clueless? Sadly, I already know this answer.
The fact is that hundreds of thousands actually took the time to show up at rallies all over the country to show their disgust with the direction of our country down the economic rat hole. This has nothing to do with parties, it’s all about the economy, stupid. (Those of you who don’t remember this line, see 1992 election coverage).
This is a great speech from the St. Louis Tea Party Protest by the national blogger Gateway Pundit.
The next protests are beginning to be scheduled for July 4 – check out www.taxdayteaparty.com for details on events in your area. As Rob’s Rant recently opined, How about a glass of tea with your revolution?

LOL! Great Headline photo, Madman … Dr. Evil sign is classic!
That congresswoman and other people in what a local radio personality here calls “Gov Co.” should take note: Dissing the (no longer) silent majority of Americans for their anger, rather than listening to them, is a good way to get your tail booted from office. Also a note to the liberal MSM who shares this congresswoman’s opinion: keep up the ‘tea bagging’ crap; keep ignoring the movement; keep dissing the people; keep it up … you are just throwing gas on the fire.
The waste must end. The corruption must end. The pillaging of our wallets must end. This is the ‘CHANGE’ we need!
AMEN.
We actually had one dissenter show up at the Tea Party Protest. He was dressed in a mask (to hide the identity) and a Che T-shirt with the appropriate signs. This guy got some coverage on the local news which seemed par for the course.
Funny thing was that the Anti-Protester was actually a local radio personality in disguise. Jamie Allman from 97.1, a conservative leaning station in St. Louis, wanted to see how the protesters would treat him – and get on the news. The protesters argued with him a little, but were very cordial. Far cry from the typical protesters at an Anti-War rally!
Yee Ha! Didn’t realize I was a racist redneck, but I guess I can take that as a complement from Ms. Garafalo.
Not that it really matters, but Conservative blogger Kevin Jackson from The Black Sphere was the MC for the St. Louis event. Yeah, that’s racism at its finest. Asking Black Man to MC the festivities.
You have to love Ms. Garafalo. Now I need to go and get my gun to shoot some squirrels. Maybe kick my dog, with my shirt off of course showing my white pride tattoo.
Mr. Jackson is simply suffering from ‘Stockholm Syndrome‘ according to Garofalo, didn’t you know? Tell me, who are the racists here: people peacefully protesting against the excesses of ‘Gov Co.’, or the liberal twits belittling the minorities who participated as having a psychological disorder?
Sorry, I forgot about the whole Stockholm Syndrome thing. My bad. Blame it on my racist redneck tendencies. Want some pork rinds with your Schlitz?
