Barney Fife Works for the TSA?

Last weekend a Campaign for Liberty conference was held in St. Louis.  On the way home through Lambert International Airport, an attendee was stopped in security and brought aside for an additional search.  He had a metal box containing $4,800 of cash and checks from the weekend representing sales of merchandise.

Why is this a reason to interrogate the individual?  Someone should inform the TSA agents the actual rules regarding carrying cash.  (Hint: under $10,000 is ok according to their guidelines).  Fortunately for us he taped the audio on his I-Phone so we can all enjoy the spectacle.

What kind of operation are these TSA agents running here? Sounds more like the TSA gestapo than a government agency. I understand that they need to be thorough about their job, but is this gentleman really pose a threat? For carrying money? Why are they wasting their time on this guy in the first place?

This comes on the heels of a secret memo that went out to Missouri State Highway Patrol officers regarding militia groups. Most of the report is specific to these groups, but a portion of it really targets 3rd party supporters.

“Political Paraphernalia: Militia members most commonly associate with 3rd party political groups. It is not uncommon for militia members to display Constitutional Party, Campaign, or Libertarian material. These members are usually supporters of former Presidential Candidate: Ron Paul, Chuck Baldwin, and Bob Barr.”

(Hey MSHP – Ron Paul is a Republican and ran as a Republican in the last election and is still a Republican U.S. Representative from Texas…just wanted to make sure you knew that).

What should we take from this report? Evidently, third party affiliation is not to be tolerated. Maybe a revolution is in order to defray the influence of the two party system. Glad I look like a Lego man on this website, otherwise I should expect a “thorough” search the next time I fly the friendly skies. (I’m actually writing this post waiting for a flight in the St. Louis airport – fortunately I’ve already gone through security).

What a disgrace for the TSA AND St. Louis. Apologies should go to Mr. Bierfeldt.
