90% Citizens Tax on Washington

It’s all over the news, all over the blogosphere and a hot topic around the water cooler: Evil CEO’s and their big, bad bailout bonuses. Naturally, average schmoos like me are angered that the charlatans who ruined the financial industry are getting paid a fat bonus for doing so. Contract or not, it stinks. But it’s not nearly as rank as what our elected charlatans in Washington have been pulling over on us.

It’s shocking I can actually say with a straight face that $146 million is nothing. Compared to the $1.5 trillion the Fed is about to spend to buy up mortgage assets; $800 billion in Porkulus spending, several trillion dollars on financial bailouts and TARP; the trillions we are all going to be soon feeding the phantom CO2 Monster; it’s the Washington equivalent of loose change clanging around in the dryer. What’s wrong with me?

Let’s ask John Boehner (R) what he thinks:

“This political circus that’s going on here today with this bill is not getting to the bottom of the questions of who knew what and when did they know it.”

Why Mr, Boehner, that would require Democrat leadership to explain why they stripped out a provision at the last minute that could have banned such payouts; Christopher Dodd (AIG’s biggest donation puppet) to explain why he added a sneaky last-minute grandfather provision to the Porkulus, then lied about it; Tim Geithner to explain why he lied about when he knew of the bonuses; Mr. Geithner also explaining why only the CEO of AIG’s biggest creditor (Goldman Sachs) was there to advise him on the company’s bailout; Goldman Sachs to explain why they lied about not needing bailout money that they later siphoned ($13B) through AIG’s back door; former Goldman Sachs bigwig Paulson to explain why he was complacent and what he knew; AIG to explain who steered our tax dollars to GS and foreign banks under Geithner and Paulson’s noses and who got bonuses for doing so; President Obama, a big recipient of AIG suicide bomber contributions, to explain what he knew and when; all of these bipartisan crooks to explain where the heck trillions of our tax dollars have gone; on and on and on.

As Queen Nancy put’s it:

“We want our money back now for the taxpayers!”

Can we do this too?

Can we put a 90% citizen’s tax on the paychecks, pensions, war chests, payoffs, earmarks and other unnecessary pork spending members of Congress and other Washington crooks keeping fleecing us with? A tax that could get money right back to our pockets so we can spend it as we see fit?

I’m with Nancy, “WE WANT OUR MONEY BACK NOW SAY THE TAXPAYERS!”
Time to send in my Tea Bag.

I find it almost comical that the Congress that passed the bonus exception clause in Porkulus are shocked and angered by the bonuses they approved. Dodd is only one of many of Democrats who approved this bill (Spector, Collins, and Snowe are also on the hook). Hmmmm… I guess it is interesting that the Congress and President found it so important to pass Porkulus that no one should have read it.

    Morons.

Dodd not only approved the bill, he wrote in the clause that allowed the bonus (only because treasury made him do it).I have to ask, who is treasury? Why isn’t there a name? Doug(last name withheld now not then) pushed me into the girls locker room in the 11th grade. It was my idea to look though. On dems vs reps, remember the divide and conquer tact, and resist fighting amongst ourselves. They (politicians) are all getting fat. Business pays for lobbyists to get legislation passed that serves them well.Elected officials take care of those that gave them the most contributions, not those who banded together to vote them in.
Was the bailout necessary? Did home loans to lower income families cause it?Really? How many fat cats got loans for bigger, or second or third homes due to lowered standards.A local developer here received personal loans that there would be no way for him to pay back if the economy even slowed a little. It was easy to predict as he continually doubled down( with his bankers approval) He got caught with 22 homes no one wanted. 5.5 mil home 20g a month in payments.huge boat, bigger rv, hummer. Bank really hated to shut him off. Now the bank is stuck with a 5.5 mil house that didn’t sell for 1.5(offer was made then recinded)used boat , rv, and hummer.i don’t believe this instance is anecdotal but often repeated. Now the bank needs a bailout.Should this loan officer get a retention bonus if he can’t find other employment? I understand contractual obligations. I also understand “you’re fired”. At the root it was a good idea , relax stringent loan requirements to allow some families a chance to own a home. What happened was a “watch this” exploitation of the rules. I sincerely believe it was carefully orchestrated, right down to these bailouts and bonuses. The recession causes many to be unable to keep their home. Now it is up to the taxpayer to foot the bill. And who ends up with the home? Who is left to pay tax?

Sorry I did get off the subject a little, then a whole lot. I do not believe that a 90% tax is unconstitutional,or fair.I think taxes should be completely voluntary. And we should earmark where it is to be spent. Don’t say it won’t work ,look at the Catholic Church.Even now they have plenty. Give us something to believe in. Tithing has always been 10%. I know some give more. I know some don’t always have extra to give.I know hell will be full of sinners not poor.
