According to our new AG Eric Holder, we are a nation of cowards when it comes to matters of race:

Eric Holder, the nation’s first black attorney general, said Wednesday the United States was “a nation of cowards” on matters of race, with most Americans avoiding candid discussions of racial issues. In a speech to Justice Department employees marking Black History Month, Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.

“Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and I believe continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards,” Holder said.

Race issues continue to be a topic of political discussion, but “we, as average Americans, simply do not talk enough with each other about race.”

We don’t talk about race enough? Is Holder kidding us? When have we as a society had a problem talking about race?

Last time I checked, we as a nation are going on and on and on  about how we are soooooo racist. Heck, we are so racist, we just elected the first African American President.

The problem is that every time someone talks about race and does not tow the leftist line, they are branded a racist.

Democratic politicians starting in the 1960’s found a way to hijack almost the entire African American population convincing them the GOP was a bunch of card-carrying Ku Klux Klan members.  This, even though the KKK sprung out of Democrats and their ilk back in the 1800’s, and even though more Republicans voted for the Civil Rights laws in the 1960’s.

This is just more of the same from the Left.

“If we’re going to ever make progress, we’re going to have to have the guts, we have to have the determination, to be honest with each other. It also means we have to be able to accept criticism where that is justified,” Holder told reporters after the speech.

Good grief!

UPDATE:

Heather MacDonald of City Journal also wrote about this, but did a better job explaining what I tried to do… maybe because she did not rush writing a post like I did since I am at Big Sky, Montana on vacation.

Did I mention that I am skiing, NCViking?

Let’s also not forget that the Republican Party was created to oppose the expansion of slavery and is the party of emancipation and Lincoln.

    Amazing how history is rewritten.
